A broad green tree over a lively street, with blue sky and warm afternoon light Painted interpretation: a broad green tree over a lively street, with blue sky and warm afternoon light

Curious by default.

shashmit.

A work in progress.
Mostly making things. Always looking around.

The things I make

I take the
long way around.

Tech, films, and whatever catches my eye along the way. I like seeing where a little curiosity can lead.

A flower cart overflowing with red roses and golden marigolds Painted interpretation: a flower cart overflowing with red roses and golden marigolds

Sometimes, it's a color.

A cart on the corner, roses stacked so deep they stop looking like flowers and start looking like paint. I bought none. I stood there a while.

The warm lantern and red lettering of Coffee Lab Painted interpretation: the warm lantern and red lettering of Coffee Lab

Sometimes, a place to stay a little longer.

A lantern, a red sign, a table by the window. The kind of place where the second coffee is a decision you make without noticing.

Bright yellow socks and brown boots at a panel discussion Painted interpretation: bright yellow socks and brown boots at a panel discussion

Even in the smallest things.

A panel about serious things, and the speaker's socks doing all the talking. Someone chose those that morning. I like that they did.

A painted view of someone standing on a garden path, looking out over the trees

And sometimes, just standing still.

A path, a bit of shade, nowhere I needed to be. The best detours are the ones where you stop walking for a minute.

There's a lot to notice.

Curiosity
turns into
something.

More about my work

Most evenings look the same. Six screens. Forty-something tabs. One half-finished idea, sitting in the tab I can't find.

It starts with poking at something I don't understand yet. I break it. I fix it. I break it a little differently, just to see what happens. Somewhere between the third coffee and the tab called why is this broken, it stops being a question and starts being a thing.

Then it works. on my machine , at least. So I put it out there, watch what people do with it, and go looking for the next thing worth breaking.

Poke at it. Find out. Repeat.

And some things
stay with me.

A film I can't stop thinking about. Something I learned. Thoughts that needed somewhere to go.
